The Uganda-UK Schools Linking Partnership's(U-UKSLP) principle aims are:

  1.
to promote links between schools in Uganda and the UK.

  2.
to provide opportunities to enrich the lives and experiences of students and teachers from both countries.

  3.
to envision and "release the potential" of those involved in the partnership's activities and programs.

The Ugandan link of U-UKSLP is based out of the Education Centre at the Discovery Centre near to the town of Jinja.

The Education Centre at Discovery

The Education Centre as well as being the hub for the linking activities is also a valuable resource for local schools, and makes an ideal base for field studies and study tours. Participation in the partnership's activities can significantly contribute to a school being awarded the prestigious International Schools Award.

The "flagship" event of these activities is the Jinja International Youth Meeting (JIYM), an annual conference held for the last four years at Discovery Centre for senior students from both countries. Already eight UK schools and ten Ugandan secondary schools have sent delegates to participated in these. The initial inspiration for these conferences came from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held in Kampala in 2007.

The Uganda-UK Schools Linking Partnership (U-UKSLP) also has an on-line learning/collaboration platform with the cloud computing company "huddle". For futher information on any of the above please e-mail:
